Math Tips
1. Cooking with your child is a fun and motivating way to practice measuring skills with fractions.
2. Keep a coin jar in the kitchen. Ask your child to count the money. First sort the coins and then count groups of the same coins. This will help your child to practice counting up by 5s, 10s and 25s. 3. Telling time: When learning to tell time say "Short hand points (to the number telling the hour). Long hand counts (to tell the minutes.)" Learning how to tell time on an analog clock will help your child to develop time management skills. According to Sarah Ward a speech and language therapist and expert in executive functioning skills, use an analog clock and ask children to predict how long a particular task might take. On the glass face of the analog clock, use dry erase markers to visually show the passage of time.
